May 26

We have a walking field trip planned for the last day of school. We'll walk up to Lily's house and then over to Whitney's house. Right after lunch, at 12:30 we'll head out and return about an hour later.

Our "John, the OHV Man" video is one of the top three submitted by elementary students. We'll find out where we placed on June 3. Check in on this web site to view the results. (Keep your fingers crossed for first place!)

This year went by so quickly. I have truly enjoyed teaching each and every one of my students. What a great year. Thanks to all the volunteers that helped in so many ways this year. You're the GREATEST!!

We have Mr. Macklin visiting our room each day this week for one hour. He will talk about "Kid Power". This is part of the "Just Say No" program.

Swimming is Tuesday afternoon. Please bring your $1.25, a towel, and swimsuit.

Solar Root Beer Recipe

1 teaspoon dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
2 Tablespoons root beer extract
2 cups sugar
water

Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. Fill a glass gallon jug 1/2 full of warm water. Pour root beer extract on top of sugar. Add 1/2 cup warm water and dissolve the sugar , root beer solution. Pour in yeast and sugar solution. Put lid on loosely and wrap the jar in a towel. Set in the sun for 6 hours.

April 25-29

Please return your April reading calendar on Wednesday, April 27. I need this a few days earlier this month, so I can transfer the minutes onto the Lions Kite Flight for Reading and Sight Form. I will send these forms home on Friday. Our school can get some much needed money, and your child can get a free kite by taking the Lions Form to Cedar Middle School on Saturday, April 30 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. We are hoping that almost every child is able to turn in their calendar on Saturday and get a free kite. If you are busy, maybe you could arrange for your child to go with a neighbor.

Our class has a field trip on Thursday, April 28. We will leave at 10:00 a.m. and be back in time for lunch at 11:45 a.m. We will be attending the Cedar City Arbor Day Celebration up at the new Aquatic Center.

Thursday night is a PTA fund raiser night at McDonald's Restaurant. Come in between 6-8p.m. and help our PTA raise money for technology.

There will be no formal reading groups on Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday this week.

Friday morning we have another Marvin and Jessie assembly. Marvin and Jessie will help us learn about self-confidence.

The SUU college students will be in our classroom on Tuesday morning to teach a social studies lesson on rights and responsibilities.

Our class will get to go on a field trip with Mrs. Seely's class to the Cedar City Arbor Day Celebration on April 28 at 10:30 A.M.

Tuesday is our Farm Field Day. We will go to the Diamond Z Arena in the morning and learn all about agriculture in Iron County. We'll eat our lunch and then head over to the new Aquatic Center. Students will need their bathing suit, a towel, and $2.00 for the afternoon activity.

Another group of SUU Art Integration students will be in our classroom on Thursday morning. We loved the last group and all the activities they provided for our class, and we can't wait for our new opportunities.

Last Friday we had some SUU students give us a chemistry lesson. We enjoyed learning about solids, liquids, and gases. Their experiments were amazing. They even broke a rubber ball in our classroom and that isn't easy to do!~ We are so fortunate to have another chemistry lesson this Friday.

WOW!!! This is a busy week and a great way to end March.

Our class WON the Domino's Pizza Night and will have our celebration pizza party on Friday afternoon at 3:00.

We enjoyed Kids' College last Friday afternoon. Our class learned about genetics, physical and chemical changes, and rocks.

Thanks for supporting our school and participating in the Domino's Dough Raising. Our class won on February 10. Now we get a pizza party. Yahoo!

We are finished studying about the Incas, and now will take a look at our own community and how own history compares to that of the ancient Inca society.
