April 26-30

Spelling words for this week are: room, against, turned, sea, top, drawing, waves, blue sky, what were, some, called, much, because, small, name, father

The vocabulary words are the same as last week. We didn't spend much time with these words last week because of the afternoon swimming. (excel, industrious, remote accompany, gesture, reveal, and conserve)

We have CRT testing on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9- 10.

We will help celebrate Arbor Day on Friday from 10-11:30 at the Cedar City Arbor Day Celebration. Then we have our last Marvin and Jessie assembly on Friday afternoon.

April 19-23

Hooray! It's our swimming week! We'll have lessons on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and then free time on Friday. We're in the pool from 1:15- 1:45.

Vocabulary words are: excel, industrious, remote, accompany, gesture, reveal, conserve

March and April Home Reading Buckets need to be turned in on May 3. Students that have completed and returned their March and April buckets will be able to participate in a reading reward activity in May. Eight students are still working on their March minutes. We only have two more weeks for finish up.

The DIBELS reading fluency assessment was given this week and our class went from a "mean" of 88 to 120! Yahoo!

TESTING: We took the IOWA Test of Basic Skills on Monday. The RIGBY READS Reading Evaluation Test is Wednesday. DIBELS reading fluency testing is scheduled for Monday, April 19.

The swimming parental consent forms went home on Monday. We swim next week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Our class is scheduled to be in the pool from 1:15- 1:45.

Mrs. Bassett will visit our classroom on Friday to talk about friendship.

Our class has been invited to the Cedar City Arbor Day ceremony on April 30 at 10:30 A.M.

We are still waiting for eight students to get their March Home Reading Calendar turned in.

The third quarter achievement awards will be handed out of Friday at 10:30 A.M. We have finished our power point project. We'll share these with parents during our Spring Arts Fair on May 24 at 6:00 P.M.

Our swimming week is coming up (April 19- 23). Testing is coming up ( April 27- May 5).

This Thursday is our Dough Raising Night at Domino's Pizza.

March 15 -19

Hooray! Our class won the pizza party! We had more people go to Domino's Pizza last Thursday than any other class! Thanks to all the parents that supported the school and our class at this PTA fundraiser.

Two field trips are coming up this month. March 24 and March 30 Thanks to all the parents that have volunteered to help with the field trips.

We started our computer projects and are going to be using the laptop computers again this Friday. They are great!

The Dr. Seuss Carnival is Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. Eighteen students have turned in their January and February reading calendars and will be able to participate. Everyone will be able to participate in the Read-a-thon in the afternoon. Remember that the PTA will be selling snacks during the Read-a-thon.

February 22 - 26

We have a fun "Dr. Seuss Carnival" planned for March 2. Students must have their January and February reading calendars (buckets) filled in and returned by March 1 in order to participate in the carnival. So far, McCray is the only students going. Let's get those calendars in!


SEP Conference week is coming up. Your appointment schedule is coming home today. Please let me know if you need to reschedule.

We made our puppet movie last week. Unfortunately, I haven't had time to get it up on this blog yet. I will be working on it. Stay tuned.

We have a new boy in our class! Jarrett just moved here from Sandy. We welcome him to our school and our town.

Our Valentines' Day Party will be on Friday at 2:30.
